How We Stay Free and Independent
Crossing Waters Network is a nonprofit directory. Every treatment facility is listed at no charge. We do not sell rankings, featured placement, or paid upgrades. Facilities cannot pay to appear higher in search results or on state and city pages.
Our goal is to help families find accurate contact information during a difficult time — not to sell referrals or leads to treatment providers.
Where Our Funding Comes From
We rely on mission-aligned support, not payments from listed facilities:
- Donations from individuals who support free access to treatment information
- Grants and community funding for public health navigation
- General operating support to maintain the website, update directory data, and publish educational content
Donations and grants pay for hosting, data updates, and site maintenance. They do not determine which facilities appear in the directory or how listings are ordered.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not charge facilities to be listed, stay listed, or update basic contact information
- We do not sell clicks, leads, or referrals to treatment centers
- We do not accept payment in exchange for higher placement or preferred visibility
- We do not provide medical advice, admission services, or emergency response
How the Directory Is Built
Listing information comes primarily from public sources, including SAMHSA FindTreatment.gov. We organize that information by state, city, and level of care so families can search more easily. We verify corrections when facilities or the public report errors, but we encourage everyone to confirm services and availability directly with each provider.
Technology and Operations
Crossing Waters Network may work with trusted partners for website development, hosting, and technical maintenance under agreements that protect our independence. Those partners are paid for services — not for influencing which facilities are listed or how they are displayed.
